Castle East School

The SEH French team were delighted to play our part in increasing the number of SEND school places in Suffolk through the expansion of Castle East School.

We were tasked by design consultants Concertus in the spring of 2024 to expand and refurbish the school’s existing facilities, increasing pupil capacity from 80 to 120.

The six-month long project saw the completion of three new additional classrooms, alongside dedicated new science, art and IT rooms and a new library ahead of their Autumn term.

Other completed works include mechanical, electrical, fencing and security enhancements.

Speaking to Concertus, then headteacher Anna Mears, said: “We are over the moon that the refurbishment of the final part of the school building has now been completed and we are able to welcome even more pupils to our innovative and outstanding school.

“The whole building allows us to ensure that all of our pupils learn and thrive in a nurturing environment.”

Sam Clark, our Contracts Surveyor, added: “It was a privilege for us to be involved in this project.

“We were pleased to have the new spaces open and ready for children ahead of the start of their autumn term.

“The SEH French team showcased professionalism throughout the project and it is great to hear the client and the pupils are pleased with the results.”

This project is one of many we secured thanks to our place on the Suffolk County Council Framework – a list of contractors entrusted by the local authority for their quality of work and reliability.
