SEH French colleagues take on 24-hour three peaks challenge for friend with motor neurone disease

Six construction workers, including colleagues at SEH French, have conquered the three peaks challenge – raising more than £3,000 for their friend diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Danny Baldry, 40, who works at SEH as a site manager, has known Ryan Horsfall since he was a teenager and both went on to have successful careers in the construction industry in Suffolk.

But in late 2025 Ryan, a husband and father-of-three from Stowmarket, was diagnosed with MND, aged just 39.

To raise money for the family and awareness of the disease, Danny, along with colleagues Dylan Bloomfield, Jon Powley, Marc Rowell, Richard Gibson and Stuart Summerhill, took on the three peaks challenge – climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowden in just 24 hours.

They were joined by Adam Hudson, who drove the team the 462 miles between each peak.

SEH French has chosen the “Stand with the Horsfalls” campaign as its ‘charity of the year’, and have raised more than £3,800 through the Three Peaks challenge to add to the £75,000 already raised by the campaign.

The money raised by the campaign will be used to create a trust fund to support the family.

Danny said: “I have known Ryan since I was 19 – he’s a close friend of mine and has worked in the construction industry for years as a self-employed plumber, refurbing complete bathroom suites to a very high standard.

“Although he didn’t work at SEH French with us, he is well known within the company and a good friend to many of the team.

“All money raised will go to Ryan’s care and to look after his family. But importantly, it is also about raising awareness of this terrible disease so that more research is done to find a cure.”

Danny said the team experienced all four seasons in a single day while taking part in the challenge.

“At Ben Nevis it was snowing, icy and we were soaked through but at Scafell Pike in the evening it was bright and sunny, we even saw the sunset,” he said.

“I think we experienced every weather type – I certainly wasn’t expecting to see 2ft of snow this time of year.

“It was quite a challenge, and I had a few aches and pains during and when I got home. Luckily, I had booked off a couple of days of work to recover.”
